Making a Difference But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, Daniel 1:8
Would you join me and dare to believe that God, who called you to Himself and equipped you with His Spirit, could work mightily through you? Have you made the connection between the time and place in which you live and God’s call upon you? Nothing ever catches God by surprise-nothing! Therefore, He has placed us where we are for a purpose. The corner has been turned on 2021. Yes, COVID is still with us and in all likelihood, it always will be a part of our life. This has not caught God by surprise. Our church has called a new Next Gen Pastor to disciple our children and youth. We are strengthening our discipleship program with Life Groups. What is God calling you to do to join the Kingdom Work at DBC for 2022? I fear that although we have a good number of folks who have come back to worship that some are tempted to stay away because of the uncertainty that plagues our land. Temptations to not be engaged are not new. Think of how Daniel was tempted when taken from his home in Jerusalem to Babylon. Daniel did not let the temptation of this new life interfere with his relationship with God. Daniel knew that to make his life useful to God he must be obedient in all things. Regardless of what the most powerful king in the world commanded, Daniel refused to compromise what he knew God required of him. The Bible is full of examples of Christian men and women who believed that God would work through them to make a difference where they lived for the Kingdom of God. God placed Esther in the Persian king’s court at a crucial time to save His people, Esther 4:14. God placed Joseph in an Egyptian prison so that at the proper time he was raised up to save not only Egypt but also his family, Genesis 41:39-40. Which brings us back to the beginning of 2022. Have you allowed the fear of the pandemic to keep you from working for God’s Kingdom? We need young families, children, and youth to be discipled at DBC. However, to think that our new Next Gen Pastor can do everything is not biblical. Are you personally making a difference in the next generation, are you making a difference in your generation? Please do not allow the age we live in to influence your life negatively. Ask God to reveal His purpose for you in His Kingdom work and join His work this year. Together as we follow God we can make a difference in our community, our nation, and our world!
